KENTWOOD, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The Madonna University men's golf team opened defense of its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title from a season ago with a second place showing on Wednesday (Sept. 8) at WHAC Jamboree No. 1 hosted by Davenport University at Stonewater Country Club.

The Crusaders turned in a team total of 293, four shots behind the host Panthers and eight shots in front of third place Indiana Tech.

Junior Vince Carango (Lawton, Mich. / Lawton) led the Crusaders with a one-under par round of 70 to place second in the field. Senior Austin Stillman (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin) fired a one-over 72 to tie for fourth place while defending WHAC individual champion Brett Quitiquit (Highland, Mich. / Milford) tied for 16th place with a round of 77. Fellow seniors Jimmy Uelmen (Ferndale, Mich. / Dondero) and Tommy Lucko (Livonia, Mich. / Churchill) tied for 18th and 29th place respectively. Junior Nick Sears (Clio, Mich. / Powers Catholic) rounded out the MU contingent in 34th place.

The Crusaders return to the course Monday, taking part in day one of the Indiana Wesleyan Fall Invitational at Meshingomesia Country Club in Marian, Ind.
