ROCHESTER, N.Y. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The Madonna University women's soccer team closed out its trip to western New York on Saturday (Sept. 4) night with a 2-1 loss at Roberts Wesleyan College.

MU (0-3-1) out shot RWC 19-12 and held an 11-7 edge in shots on goal but could not get the equalizer following a penalty kick by senior Ellen O'Rear (Madison Heights, Mich. / Bishop Foley Catholic) got the Crusaders on the board in the 37th minute.

RWC scored in the game's third minute on an Erika Luedke made it 1-0 off a pass from Kelsey Medeiros. RWC made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Mandi Hochheimer scored to make it 2-0.

O'Rear's first goal of the season made it 2-1 and the Crusaders forced Amanda Prestigiacomo to make four saves in the second half but could not put another goal in the back of the net.

The Crusaders now come home for their next match, a Wednesday (Sept. 8) showdown with No. 15-ranked Calvin College. The Knights come to Greenmead Field for a 4pm match.
