BOX SCORE

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - -
After being held scoreless in its first two matches of the season, the Madonna University women's soccer team cracked the goal column and then held on for a tie with No. 22-ranked Houghton College on Friday (Sept. 3) night at Roberts Wesleyan College.

Junior Chelsea Shrewsbury (Highland, Mich. / Milford) scored MU's goal in the 33rd minute to put the Crusaders up 1-0 with a great shot on goal off of a corner kick

HC tied the match late in regulation with a goal from Samantha Choma in the 84th minute to send the game into overtime.

Both sides had scoring chances in the extra periods but MU's Brittany Warner (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) was up to the challenge, keeping HC off the board and preserving the tie. Warner made 12 saves in the match while the Crusaders fired nine shots on goal towards Houghton's Alexa Thayer.

The Crusaders look to notch win one of the season on Saturday (Sept. 4) when MU takes on Roberts Wesleyan at 6pm.
