KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Sophomore Michelle Hall (Flushing, Mich. / Flushing) once again led the way, finishing ninth as the Madonna University women's golf team ended the USF Cougar Invite in fifth place on Tuesday (August 31).
The Crusaders shot rounds of 352 and 357 for a team total of 709. Bethel won the event.
Hall shot an 84 on Tuesday to end the event with a 166 and her second top-10 finish of the season following a medalist performance last weekend at the UNOH Racer Invite in Lima, Ohio.
Freshman Kaitlyn Brasher (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc) and junior Chelsea Bathurst (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) tied for 20th place with Brasher's round of 84 setting a new career-best for the rookie.
Senior Sara Simnitch (Swartz Creek, Mich. / Swartz Creek) and sophomore Elena Thomas (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland) finished 27th and 28th respectively with Thomas' 87 setting her new career-best round. Sophomore Megan Fleischer (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Marian Catholic) lowered her day one total by eight strokes and finished in 36th place and senior Mariel Meyers (Westland, Mich. / Franklin) was one spot behind Fleisher in 37th.
Junior Caitlin Steele (Livonia, Mich. / Divine Child Catholic) and freshman Chelsea Osburn (Canton, Mich. / Canton) tied for 42nd place to round out the MU contingent.
The Crusaders return to the course next Tuesday, opening Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with Jamboree No. 1 hosted by Indiana Tech.
