Michelle Hall (Flushing, Mich. / Flushing) led the way, taking home medalist honors as the Madonna University women's golf team took home the team title from the University of Northwestern Ohio Invitational at Hawthorne Hills Golf Club on Saturday (August 28).
The Crusaders - who led by six shots after Friday's opening round - ended the 36-hole event with a team score of 680 and lowered their day two score by 10 shots in taking home their first team title of the season by 39 strokes.
Hall lowered her own score by eight shots to card a 75 and win the individual title by a shot with a total of 158.
Junior Chelsea Bathurst (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) placed fifth overall and lowered her day two total by 10, carding an 80. Senior Sara Simnitch (Swartz Creek, Mich. / Swartz Creek) came in seventh with a two-day total of 175 (86/89) and sophomore Megan Fleischer (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Marian Catholic) placed ninth, lowering her day two score by 14 shots from Friday to shoot a total of 180 (97/83).
Senior Caitlin Steele (Livonia, Mich. / Divine Child Catholic) and freshman Kaitlyn Brasher (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Grand Blanc) placed 10th (86/95) and 11th (86/96) respectively with totals of 181 and 182.
Senior Mariel Meyers (Westland, Mich. / Franklin) and sophomore Elena Thomas (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland) came in 11th (91/91) and 13th (90/95) to round out the MU contingent.
The Crusaders return to the course on Monday and Tuesday for the St. Francis Fall Invitational. Day one starts at 2pm at Noble Hawk Golf Links.
