BOX SCORE

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - A David Ujkic (Novi, Mich. / Novi Christian) goal in the final minute of action capped a come-from-behind win for the Madonna University men's soccer team as the Crusaders downed Huntington University 2-1 on Thursday (Aug. 26) at Foresters Field.

Ujkic found a rebound off of a Ogbemudia Iyoha (Benin City, Nigeria / Ann Arbor Huron) shot and beat Chris Fox for the game winner.

"Huntington played hard and did a great job disrupting our rhythm," commented Head Coach Eric Scott. "The boys showed a lot of heart, first when they matched Huntington's goal and then in the end to win it. David (Ujkic) and Franco Giorgi (Windsor, Ont. / Kennedy Collegiate Institute) played very well for us."

After a scoreless first half, HU broke into the goal column in the 53rd minute when Nick Bunting beat Parker Laabs (Canton, Mich. / Canton) to put the Foresters on top 1-0.

The Crusaders answered back less than two minutes later when freshman Max Washko (Livonia, Mich. / Churchill) found the end of a cross from senior Jacob Rosiek (Oak Park, Mich. / Bishop Foley Catholic) and beat Fox to knot the game at 1-1.

The game remained at one-all until Iyoha fired in a shot that was stopped but Ujkic found the loose ball and put it into the back of the net for a 2-1 win that moved the Crusaders to 2-0 on the year.

Madonna kicks off the home season on Saturday (Aug. 28) when the Crusaders host the University of Windsor in a 2:00pm match at Greenmead Field.
