DETROIT, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The Madonna University women's soccer team opened its 2010 season with a 6-0 loss at the University of Detroit on Thursday (Aug. 26) afternoon.

The Titans got on the board in the 25th minute with an Abby McCollum goal and put three more scores on the board before halftime. Detroit added two second half goals for the 6-0 final.

Junior Andrea Mareel (New Baltimore, Mich. / Regina Catholic) narrowly missed a goal as her shot in the first half rang off the bottom of the cross bar but did not cross the goal line.

The Crusaders look to get into the win column on Saturday with a match against the University of Windsor. Kick off is set for 12pm at Greenmead Field and will be followed by the Madonna men's team taking on Windsor.
