CRUSADERVISION PREVIEW WITH ERIC SCOTT
LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - After nearly three weeks of pre-season practice, the Madonna University men's soccer team laces up its cleats for the 2010 season opener on Sunday (Aug. 22) as the Crusaders travel to Wisconsin to take on Viterbo University in a 3pm (EDT) kickoff.
First-year Head Coach Eric Scott has just six players returning from last year's squad that went 4-7-4 and did not advance to the post season for the first time in recent memory. Scott has added 18 new faces to the Madonna side as the Crusaders look to return to the NAIA National Championship after a one year absence.
Viterbo is coming off of a 12-6-2 season and an appearance in the Midwest Collegiate Conference finals. The V-Hawks fell 3-2 to Ashford in double overtime to end the 2009 season.
Fans can get their first local look at the Crusaders next Saturday (Aug. 28) when MU hosts the University of Windsor as part of a men's and women's double header. The women get the day started with a noon kick off and the men close the day at approximately 2:30pm or 30 minutes after the women's game ends.
