LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - As part of their recent conventions both the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA) honored the Madonna University Office of Athletic Communications and Sports Information with awards for four of its publications.

The Crusader media guides were judged against fellow NAIA member instituions in the NAIA-SIDA contest while going up against publications from NAIA, junior college and Canadian schools in the CoSIDA contest.

The guides were produced by Director of Sports Information and Athletic Communications Patrick Moore along with Assistant Athletic Director Noel Emenhiser and student assistants Anna Gatt and Abby Long. Gatt and Long are both graphic design majors at MU along with being student-athletes on the volleyball squad.

"It is always humbling to be honored by your peers," commented Moore, the 2009-10 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference's Mike Dean Sports Information Director of the Year. "The awards show the hard work that the office puts in on a daily basis for the student-athletes. Having Anna and Abby involved in the process really makes it a total team effort and an even more rewarding recognition."

The Madonna University volleyball media guide once again was the big winner as for the third straight year the publication took home "Best in the Nation" honors from NAIA-SIDA while raking fourth in the CoSIDA contest.

The 2009-10 women's basketball media guide also took home a "Best in the Nation" citation as CoSIDA's panel of judges selected the Gatt and Moore designed cover as the nation's best. The women's guide itself ranked sixth in the NAIA-SIDA contest.

The men's and women's soccer guides were both honored with the men's publication placing fourth nationally in the NAIA-SIDA race and the women's ranking 13th in the CoSIDA field to round out the award winners.

The awards bring the total of first place media guides to four for the MU office since 2006 and bring the amount of top-five finishes to 16 in the same period of time to go along with two "Best in the Nation" covers.
