LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Madonna University head men's basketball coach Noel Emenhiser announced Monday (June 7) that all-state guard Travis Schuba (Rapid City, Mich./Kalkaska) has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers in both basketball and baseball at Madonna starting this fall.

"We are very excited that Travis has chosen Madonna to continue his education and basketball career," commented Emenhiser after the signing. "Travis is an outstanding basketball player and more importantly he is a great person. His accomplishments as a prep-star speak for themselves and his work-ethic will help translate that success to the college game."

Schuba - whose older brother Chuck played at WHAC rival Aquinas College - is an honor roll member and is ranked 16th in his class at Kalkaska. A two-time All-Lake Michigan Conference, all-region and all-state selection on the hardwood, Schuba holds the Kalkaska career scoring record with 1,520 points in addition to holding the single-game scoring record with 43 points. This season he averaged 29 points per game while setting the school record for made three pointers in a game (10), season (88) and career (292).

On the diamond Schuba is was named all-conference, all-region and all-state as a junior and led the Blazers to the Lake Michigan Conference title this spring.

Schuba joins Matt Jenkins (Plymouth, Mich./Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard), Derek Lennen (Schoolcraft, Mich./Schoolcraft) and Bobby Naubert (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) who had earlier signed with the Crusaders.
