LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Madonna University head volleyball coach
Jerry Abraham announced Monday (June 7) that he has signed outside hitter
Jess Martin (Howell, Mich./Greenwood High School {KY}) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Madonna starting this fall.
Martin is the fourth signee for Abraham this off season, joining
Emilie Freeman (Livonia, Mich./Lutheran Westland),
Lauren Mora (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) and
Miranda Sechler (Tekonsha, Mich./Coldwater) as the newest additions to the Crusader volleyball program.
"Jess is a quality all-around student-athlete who excels both on the court and in the classroom," commented Abraham after the signing. She is a scholar student academically with an excellent work ethic. As a smart outside hitter she has the ability to play both left and right side for us with a variety of shot selection and the skills to compete as a defender in the back row. Jess plays with tremendous enthusiasm with a deep desire to win. She is going to be another positive addition to our volleyball family."
Martin played for coach Alan Whittinghill at Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and helped the Lady Gators to a state regional championship in 2008 as well as a state title in 2009.
The Crusaders ended the 2009 season ranked No. 22 in the nation and return seven letter winners off a team that went 32-7.
