KANSAS CITY, Mo. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The NAIA announced its 2010 Softball Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes on Tuesday (May 25) and a pair of Madonna University student-athletes -
Tara LaMilza (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Regina Catholic) and
Cat Sidor (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) were among the 275 selected in the prestigious program.
In order to be selected as a Scholar Athlete, a student-athlete must be nominated by her head coach and must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher as a junior or senior.
LaMilza (criminal justice/forensic science) is making her first appearance on the squad and posted a .293 average with three home runs and 12 doubles as the Crusaders everyday right fielder.
Sidor (math for elementary education) was named the 2010 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year after setting the Madonna career hits record and posting a team best .374 batting average, six home runs and 19 doubles to go along with 36 runs batted in. Sidor's 19 doubles ranked her 17th nationally.
The Crusaders posted a 43-11 mark, winning both the WHAC regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NAIA National Championship for the second straight season.
