NAIA MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
SILVIS ILL. - - The Madonna University men's golf team shot a 320 on day two of the NAIA National Championships at TPC Deere Run Wednesday. With a two day total of 624 the Crusaders are in 22ndafter day two in the program's first ever Championships appearance.
Brett Quitiquit (Highland, Mich./Milford/Oakland Univ.) once again led the way for Madonna shooting even par 71 to remain in second place all alone at three under par for the Championships. Quitiquit is one of only two players still under par and is one stroke off the lead of Justin Lower from Malone University. Both Quitiquit and Lower started the day tied for second place at three under par.
Day one leader Alex Ochoa shot a seven over 78 on day two to drop into a tie for 10thplace opening the door for Quitiquit and Lower to battle for the top spot.
After shooting a day one 78 James Uelmen (Ferndale, Mich./Dondero/Oakland CC) shaved one stoke off his day one score turning in a 77 on day two. Uelmen is tied for 81stplace, seven spots better than he started the day.
Tommy Lucko(Livonia, Mich./Churchill/Oakland CC) turned in a score of 82 on Wednesday after a day one score 79 to finish the day tied for 122ndposition. Nick Sears (Clio, Mich. Flint Powers Catholic) and Steve South (Westland, Mich. Franklin) finished with rounds of 90 and 92 respectively to round out the scoring for the Crusaders on day two.
Madonna will return to the course Thursday with hopes of improving to 17th position or better to remain in the Championships for the fourth and final day. After 54 holes the field will be reduced to the top 17 teams and 40 individuals.
