TUCSON, Ariz. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Less that 10 hours after getting off the diamond from the previous night's game, the No. 14-ranked Madonna University softball team closed its spring trip with a pair of wins on Friday (March 12). MU downed Iowa Wesleyan 7-1 and Black Hills State 7-0 at Lincoln Park.

The Crusaders put up a single run in the first before blowing the game open with three runs in the second and two more in the third to claim a 6-0 lead after just three innings.
MU added a single run in the fifth before IWU managed to get a run in the sixth for the 7-1 final.
Hallie Minch (Garden City, Mich.) threw a complete game, scattering six hits and striking out nine to move t0 4-0 on the year. Arielle Cox (Newport, Mich.), Kelly Lesko (Trenton, Mich.), Brittney Scero (Canton, Mich.) and Ashley Shay (Garden City, Mich.) each posted two hits in the win.
BLACK HILLS STATE
The Crusaders (9-0) put up a single run in the first and added another in the sixth on a home run from Tara LaMilza (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) to go on top 2-0 heading into the seventh.
MU exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh, with the big blow coming on a two-run double from Erica Landess (Carleton, Mich.) that scored Minch and LaMilza to cap the scoring and give MU its ninth win by a 7-0 final.
Landess led the way at the plate with two hits and two RBIs with LaMilza driving in a pair as well in support of Jess Irwin (Monroe, Mich.) who moved to 5-0 on the year with 11 strikeouts and did not walk a hitter.
The Crusaders return home with a perfect 9-0 record and return to the field on Thursday (March 18) with a double header at the University of Rio Grande in Ohio.
