(MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - For the third time in the last four seasons and fresh off of an upset win over No. 2-seed Aquinas College, the Madonna University women's basketball team will playing for a berth in the 2010 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship Tuesday (March 2) night when the Crusaders travel to Grand Rapids to take on No. 1-seed and second ranked Davenport University in a 7:30pm tip-off inside the DU Student Center.
Fans who can not make the trip to Grand Rapids can listen live on the Crusader Radio Network - presented by the Madonna University Office of Advancement - with special guest color commentator Noel Emenhiser (Madonna men's basketball head coach) along with the voice of Crusader Nation Kevin Wade on the play-by-play call. Fans can also follow along with the live stats provided by DU or with the Madonna Athletics Twitter feed, manned tonight by Director of Sports Information and Athletic Communications Patrick Moore, by clicking on any of the three links above.
Davenport has had the better of the match-ups this season, winning both games. DU won 79-68 inside the Activities Center on Jan. 13 and completed the regular season sweep with a 90-75 win in Grand Rapids on Feb. 6. The Panthers lead the all-time series 11-4 but MU's last two wins in the series both came in the WHAC Tournament in 2007 and 2008.
The winner of tonight's game earns the WHAC's automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Championship presented by State Farm in Sioux City, Iowa. The tournament runs from March 10-16 at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena.
