(L-R) Noel Emenhiser, Derek Lennen and Randy Small
LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Madonna University head men's basketball coach Noel Emenhiser announced Monday (March 1) that he has signed Schoolcraft High School product Derek Lennen (Schoolcraft, Mich.) to a letter of intent. Lennen will continue his academic and athletic careers at MU starting this fall.
"At state power-house Schoolcraft High School, Derek has shown that he is willing to do what is necessary to be successful in the classroom and on the basketball court," commented Emenhiser after the signing. "Derek's skills, work ethic, and attitude make me confident that he will be very successful both academically and athletically here at Madonna. Derek will be an important part of the bright future of Madonna basketball."
A member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the High Honors achievement, the 6-6 Lennen is in his second season on the varsity squad for coach Randy Small. As a junior, Lennen helped the Eagles to the Kalamazoo Valley Association title as well as state district and regional championships as Schoolcraft finished as the state runner-up in Class C.
Lennen is the third signee this year for MU, joining Matt Jenkins (Plymouth, Mich.) and Bobby Naubert (Livonia, Mich.), who both signed earlier this winter.
