LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Madonna University head men's basketball coach
Noel Emenhiser announced Thursday (Feb. 4) that he has signed his first recruit from the class of 2010 in Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard product
Matt Jenkins (Plymouth, Mich.) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Madonna starting this fall.
"We are excited to add Matt to our team for next season," commented Emenhiser after the signing. "He is a kid who is showing a lot of commitment to our program already by coming to our games. Matt is the kind of player you want in a program. He's a gym rat, loves the game and is consistently working to get better. He is a selfless player who has the ability to score but gives that up at times for the better of his team."
Jenkins is in his third year on the varsity squad for coach Pete Schoch and the Fighting Irish. As a junior (2008) Jenkins was named to the All-Catholic League and all-area teams after averaging 11 points per game and posting a season-high 24 points in a single game. Jenkins has also earned letters in golf at Richard.
The current version of the Crusaders return to the court on Saturday (Feb. 6), hosting No. 13-ranked Davenport in a 3pm tip-off.
