LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Madonna University junior baseball player Shawn Little (Canton, Mich.) has been named the PlymouthCantonSports.com Male Athlete of the Decade award. The award goes to a former student-athlete at one of the three Plymouth-Canton (PCEP) high schools (Canton, Plymouth, Salem).

The high school quarterback turned college outfielder cruised with 8,643 votes and a victory over former Plymouth Wildcat Sam Ott and former Salem Rock Ronnie Goble.

Little earned three letters in football and four in baseball for the Chiefs from 2002-05 and was named the Canton Male Athlete of the Year as a senior along with serving as a team captain both on the diamond and on the gridiron.

Last season in helping lead Madonna to its first appearance in the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round in program history and its fourth Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title in the last five years, Little was named to the All-WHAC first team. The Crusaders every day center fielder, Little hit .376 with six doubles, four triples and 19 stolen bases.

Little and the Crusaders open defense of their WHAC title in a little less than three weeks when the Royal Blue and Gold travel to San Diego, Calif., to kick off the season against San Diego Christian on Feb. 18.
