BOX SCORE

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The cold weather outside carried over into the Madonna University women's basketball team's shooting as the Crusaders connected at just a 21 percent rate in falling 65-39 at Concordia on Wednesday night (Jan. 27) inside Cardinal Fieldhouse.

S
ophomore Erin Bentley (Monroe, Mich.) was the lone Crusader to crack double figures with 12 markers. Reigning WHAC Player of the Week Tabatha Wydryck (Wyandotte, Mich.) pulled in 13 rebounds to lead the way on the glass. Hannah Sabol led all players with 20 points in the win for Concordia.

Concordia jumped out to a 6-0 lead early before Madonna rallied back to tie the game at 9-all thanks to back-to-back scores from freshman Kaylee McGrath (Livonia, Mich.) and junior Katie Mount (Waterford, Mich.).

The Cards went on top for good with 13:15 left in the half and kept the Crusaders at bay while building out as much as an 11-point lead heading into halftime on top 34-23.

Madonna opened the second half on an 8-0 run over the first three plus minutes to pull with in three at 34-31 but could not get any closer as Concordia answered back with an 8-0 run of its own to go back up by double digits. CU pushed its lead out to as many as 26 late, cruising to the 26-point win 65-39.

The Crusaders return to the court on Saturday, hosting Siena Heights in a 1:00pm tip-off inside the Activities Center.

POST GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Carl Graves on the game:
"Going back to my alma mater to compete is always tough. I have so many fond memories in that building as a player and a coach and obviously tonight was not one of those. We were out coached in every aspect of the game and we shot as poorly as I've ever seen a Madonna team shoot, mostly due to a great defensive effort by Andrea's (Gorski) team. This type of season isn't what any of us envisioned. I'll keep doing my best to get better and help my players win some ball games."
