BOX SCORE | POST GAME INTERVIEW WITH HEAD COACH NOEL EMENHISER
LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Sophomore
Mike Clark (New Boston, Mich.) scored a career-high 15 points but that was not enough as the Madonna University men's basketball team fell 72-59 to No. 15-ranked Siena Heights in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener for both sides Wednesday night (Jan. 6) inside the Activities Center.
Junior
Bryant Slaughter (Westland, Mich.) joined Clark in double-figures with 11 points. Junior
Ryan Waidmann (Canton, Mich.) added nine points and a team-high five rebounds. Brent Reynolds led all scorers with 29 points including 19 in the first half for Siena Heights.
The Saints built out an early double-digit cushion in the first half, going up by as many as 19 at 39-20 with 1:23 left in the half. A three from freshman
Fred Williams (Oak Park, Mich.) brought MU back to with in 16 at 39-23 and send the two sides to the locker room.
Coming out of the break MU used a 13-6 run over the first five minutes to trim the SHU lead to eight at 44-36, using buckets from
Leroy Allen (Detroit, Mich.), Clark and Slaughter, but that momentum was short lived as the Saints went back up by 10 on the next trip down the floor and never let the lead drop below 11 the rest of the way, cruising to the 72-59 win.
The Crusaders will look to get back to .500 in WHAC play on Saturday, traveling to Grand Rapids to battle with Aquinas College in a 3pm tip-off.
