LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Head women's golf coach Scott Marzolino announced Monday (Jan. 4) that Monroe High School product and two-time all-state selection Chelsie Little (Monroe, Mich.) has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Madonna University starting this fall.
"To add an all-state caliber player like Chelsie makes our team that much better," commented Marzolino following the signing. "She plays at a very high level and knows how to win. I am excited to add her to the mix in hopes of defending our conference title."
Little is the second student-athlete to sign with the Crusaders, joining Kaitlyn Brasher (Grand Blanc, Mich.), who had signed earlier in the school year.
Little is a four-year letter winner for coach Wayne Rumple and has been named the Trojans most valuable player three times (2007, ‘08, '09) and has been named to the All-Monroe team three times as well (2007, '08, '09). Little was named to the all-state first team as a sophomore (2007) and again this past fall as a senior after garnering honorable mention honors as a freshman. She is also a three-time conference individual champion, winning the MEGA Red championship in 2007 and 2008 before winning the Southeastern Conference crown in 2009. Little also holds the Monroe High School record for a nine-hole round, carding a 34.
The Crusaders won the 2009 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title and will represent the WHAC at the NAIA National Championships in May.
