Mark Pikula
NAIA RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 2009 NAIA Men's Soccer All-American Scholar Athlete team Sunday (Dec. 6) and Madonna University senior Mark Pikula (Dearborn, Mich.) was among the 256 student-athletes honored.
To be selected, a student-athlete must be nominated by their head coach and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better and be a junior or senior.
Pikula - a cinema arts major - made the move from an attacking role to a defender this season but still managed to post two goals and a like number of assists for six points. He was earlier honored by the WHAC as a member of the organization's all-academic team.
Pikula was also named a scholar-athlete following the 2008 season.
