KANSAS CITY, Mo. - - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 2009 Women's Cross County All-American Scholar Athlete team on Friday (Nov. 20) and a pair of Madonna student-athletes - senior
Emma Czaplicki (Farmington Hills, Mich.) and junior
Sarah Sherwood (Plymouth, Mich.) - were among the 254 student-athletes selected.
To be selected, a student-athlete must be nominated by their head coach and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better and be a junior or senior.
Czaplicki (social work) and Sherwood (nursing) were among the top MU runners all season with Sherwood taking home All-WHAC honors by placing fourth in the league championship two weeks ago.
By virtue of her fourth place finish, Sherwood will compete for the second straight year in the NAIA National Championships, slated for Saturday (Nov. 21) in Vancouver, Wash.
