 BOX SCORE

LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - A 10-point, 11 rebound performance from senior Leroy Allen (Detroit, Mich.) to go along with 13 points from freshman Kevin Henry (Toledo, Ohio) was not enough to overcome cold second half shooting as the Madonna University men's basketball team dropped its home opener 67-56 to Huntington on Saturday night (Nov. 7) inside the Activities Center.

Henry's 13 markers led MU while Tyler Shively dropped in 16 to lead five Huntington players in double-figures.

Huntington led by seven twice in the first half, the last coming with 9:32 showing on the clock. MU steadily trimmed the lead down, finally tying the game at 27-all with 6:10 to go on a lay-up from Allen. The Crusaders went on a 7-1 run over the next two minutes to go in front 34-28. HU then went on an 8-0 run of its own to end the half and take a 36-34 lead into the locker room.

In the opening half MU shot at a 52-percent clip compared to a 42-percent rate for HU. The Crusaders were guilty of 12 turnovers while the Foresters were whistled for five.

Coming out of the break the two sides traded buckets with HU holding the lead until a Henry three with 13:18 left to put MU on top 47-45. That lead was short lived however as the Foresters came down and hit back-to-back baskets to take the lead at 49-47.

After Allen tied the score at 53-all on a jumper in the lane with 7:28 to go, Huntington took the lead back at 56-53 on a three by Kellen Zawadzki and never relinquished it, closing the game on a 11-3 run over the final seven minutes, falling 67-56.

The Crusaders return to the court on Tuesday night (Nov. 10) taking on Rochester in a game slated for 7pm at Rochester High School.
