GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Senior Kaila Moore (Howell, Mich.) pulled the Madonna University women's soccer team even with a second half goal but Cornerstone scored last, taking a 2-1 decision from the Crusaders on Wednesday (Oct. 28) at CU Field.
The Golden Eagles went up 1-0 in the 32nd minute when Amy VanderBent got her shot from the 18 past MU sophomore Chelsea Gregg (Livonia, Mich.) for the game's first score.
Coming out of the break Moore got MU on the board in the 60th minute with her fifth goal of the season. Moore took one touch and fired her shot past Julianne Bruining for a 1-1 match.
The Golden Eagles took the lead back for good in the 67th minute when Amadnda Dudiak grabbed the loose ball and snuck a shot into the upper left 90 for the game winner.
MU outshot CU 15-14 and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks but fell 2-1. Gregg made eight saves in net for the Crusaders.
MU returns to the pitch on Saturday, traveling to Concorida for a 12pm match against the Cardinals.
