GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference office announced the 2009 WHAC men's golf award teams late Sunday and five Crusaders were among the honorees.

Junior Brett Quitiquit (Highland, Mich.) claimed the individual medalist championship and was tabbed to the All-WHAC first team with a 74.85 stroke average for the seven event season. Joining Quitiquit was fellow junior Jimmy Uelmen (Ferndale, Mich.), in his first season as a Crusader.

Senior Steve South (Westland, Mich.) was selected to the All-WHAC honorable mention team and fellow senior Justin Taurence (Wyandotte, Mich.) was selected to both the WHAC Champions of Character team and to the Academic All-WHAC squads. To be a member of the all-academic team, a student-athlete must possess a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.25 GPA and be a junior or senior.

Rounding out the award winners was head coach Steve Mato who was named the WHAC's Coach of the Year after leading his squad to its first ever conference title and a berth in the NAIA National Championships next May.
