Set one was all MU from the start as the Crusaders took a four point lead at 13-9 to an eight point cushion at 17-9 behind kill from McGinnis and Altman along with a pair of IWU errors. The second set of the match was a flip from set one as IWU raced out to the early lead and MU was the side fighting back. The Crusaders pulled to even at 12-12 on an Altman kill before reeling off seven straight points, getting a pair of kills from sophomore Katie Czarnecki (Chesterfield, Mich.) and another from McGinnis during the run to help put the home side in front 2-0 in the match with a 25-20 win.
The final set of the match proved to be the closest with four ties before MU went up 13-12 on back-to-back Czarnecki kills. The Crusaders would not relinquish the lead in winning 25-23 for the sweep.
Madonna returns to the court on Tuesday, wrapping up the regular season home slate with a Senior Night match against Aquinas at 7pm inside the Activities Center.
