CANTON, Mich. - - The Madonna University men's golf team held onto its lead over the field in the race for the 2009 WHAC Championship by tying with Cornerstone on Monday's (Sept. 28) WHAC Jamboree No. 5 hosted by Concordia University at Pheasant Run Golf Club. Both squads shot a team total of 318 in harsh windy and rainy conditions.
 
Junior Jimmy Uelmen (Ferndale, Mich.) overcame the conditions to shoot a 77 and lead Madonna. Backing up Uelmen was fellow junior Brett Quitiquit (Highland, Mich.) who turned in a 78. Seniors Kyle Lawrey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Steve South (Westland, Mich.) turned in rounds of 81 and 82 while junior Tommy Lucko (Livonia, Mich.) carded an 86 and sophomore Nick Sears (Clio, Mich.) rounded out the MU contingent with an 87.
 
The Crusaders lead Golden Eagles of Cornerstone by four shots heading into the next to last Jamboree of the fall on Saturday. MU will have the home course advantage as the match will be played at Fellow's Creek Golf Course in Canton, Mich.
