The Crusaders got on the board in the fifth minute as senior Lauren Hess (Livonia, Mich.) finished off a shot that Austin had put into the penalty area and the Cardinal keeper misplayed allowing Hess to slot it home for a 1-0 lead.
The lead grew to 2-0 in the 38th minute when junior Katie Kozlowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) was on the end of a pass from fellow junior Ellen O'Rear (Madison Heights, Mich.) and a flick from Austin for her first goal of the season and a 2-0 MU cushion.
After halftime MU tacked on three more scores starting with a goal from senior Jaclyn Ventimiglia (Macomb, Mich.) who finished off a cross from sophomore Chelsea Shrewsbury (Milford, Mich.) to the right side of the box for a 3-0 lead.
Goal four for the Crusaders came in the 83rd minute when sophomore Trisha Bender (Commerce, Mich.) found herself on the end of a cross from classmate Nicole Rodriguez (Woodhaven, Mich.) and Bender bent her shot around Brittany Davis for a 4-0 lead.
The final MU tally came just over four minutes later in the 88th minute when Austin was on the end of a Hess cross to the far right side of the box and slotted the ball between the keeper and the post for the 5-0 final.
