ADRIAN, MICH. - - The Madonna University women's soccer team fell in overtime to Siena Heights, Saturday, by a score of 1-0. With the loss, Madonna falls to 2-6 for the year and 1-3 in WHAC play.
The Crusaders played the Saints even through the first half, with each team recording two shots on goal and neither team finding the net. The score remained tied 0-0 at the break.
Siena Heights controlled much of the action in the second half outshooting Madonna 11 to zero. Madonna goal keeper Brittany Warner (Canton, Mich.) recorded four saves in the second period, and seven for the day, holding the game scoreless through the end of regulation.
Siena Heights fired two shots on goal in the overtime period, the second finding the back of the net in the 95th minute. The goal, ending the sudden death overtime, gave the Saints the win and moved Siena Heights to 4-2-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play.
The Crusaders will return to the field Wednesday, September 23rd when they travel to Indiana Wesleyan. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
