LIVONIA, Mich. - - The Madonna University soccer team scored a late first half goal to pull to with-in one but could not get any closer, falling 3-1 to Aquinas College on Wednesday (Sept. 16) at Greenmead Field.

Aquinas (3-2-1; 1-0-1 WHAC) got on the board first with a goal in the 15th minute and increased its lead to 2-0 in the 34th minute. MU (2-5-0; 1-2-0 WHAC) trimmed its deficit to one when Lia Melasi (Fenton, Mich.) one-timed home a Lauren Hess (Livonia, Mich.) pass past Kelsey Duley to make it 2-1 with just over 90 seconds left in the opening half.

The game remained 2-1 until the 83rd minute when Teresa Buiocchi found the net for a second time, finishing off a rebound for a 3-1 final.

The Crusaders return to the pitch on Saturday (Sept. 19), traveling to Adrian to face off with Siena Heights at 12pm.
