BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - -The Madonna University men's golf team opened its 2009 fall slate by shooting a a team total of 294, just 10 over par to sit in second place at the Lou Collins Memorial Classic, hosted by Olivet College at the Bedford Valley Country Club. Indiana Wesleyan leads the event by three strokes over MU at a 291.
 
A trio of Crusaders find themselves in the top-14 players as newcomers Tommy Lucko (Livonia, Mich.) and Jimmy Uelmen (Ferndale, Mich.) are tied for sixth after shooting one-over rounds of 72 while senior Steve South (Westland, Mich.) is in a tie for 14th with a three-over round of 74.
 
Brett Quitiquit (Highland, Mich.) carded a round of 76 to pull into a tie for 23rd and senior Kyle Lawrey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) turned in a round of 81 to tie for 62nd place.
 
The Crusaders look to make a move on the Wildcats of IWU during Saturday's final round.
