DETROIT, Mich. - - The No. 25-ranked Madonna University women's soccer team closed the exhibition season Friday (Aug. 21) with a 3-1 win over NCAA Division I foe Detroit at Titan Field.
After taking advantage of a Titan miscue that allowed an own goal in the 23rd minute put the Crusaders up 1-0, Detroit split the Madonna defense to tie the game at one-all in the 66th minute.
Just under five minutes later reigning WHAC Offensive Player of the Year
Jessica Austin (Livonia, Mich.) went in on goal and played the ball over the charging Titan keeper for what proved to be the game winning goal and a 2-1 lead.
