LIVONIA, Mich. - - Head men's basketball coach Noel Emenhiser announced Friday (April 24) that Fred Williams (Oak Park, Mich.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Madonna University starting this fall.

"The coaching staff was immediately impressed with Fred as basketball player and a person," commented Emenhiser following the signing. "He has everything that we look for in a player, as he is a great student, a hard worker and has great character. Fred is a tremendous athlete and has the potential to be an outstanding player over the course of his career here at Madonna."

The 6-6 Williams has earned three letters on the hardwood for coach Jeremy Denha along with assistant coach and former Crusader Mike Maryanski, in addition to a pair on the football field and two more on the track. Williams has earned All-Oakland Activities Association honors in all three sports and was tabbed for the Sportsmanship Award in football this past fall. As a senior, Williams averaged 11.6 points and just under four rebounds a night. He poured in a season high 24 points twice this past season as the Bears went 10-11.

The Crusaders return 12 letter winners from the 2008-09 squad for Emenhiser's first season at the helm in 2009-10.
