RESULTS | MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Freshman McKenzie Chaisson (FR/Oxford, Mich.) sits just two shots off the lead and is tied for third after 18 holes as the Madonna University women's golf team is also third after the first round of the Stritch Wolfpack Invitational at Brown Deer Park on Monday afternoon.

Chaisson was impressive in her collegiate debut as she posted an eagle, a birdie and nine pars in her round of 79 (+6) as she sits just two shots off the lead. Karen Zambrano (JR/Madrid, Colombia) the reigning Wolfpack Invitational champion, sits in 11th after an opening round 83. Just one shot behind her teammate is Kristen Szabelski (FR/Livonia, Mich.) who carded an 84 and is tied for 12th.

Kayla Gerhardt (FR/Flushing, Mich.)'s 95 tied her for 30th and was the final counting score for MU in their first round 341. Madison Maurier (FR/Livonia, Mich.) completed the five-player team for the Crusaders with a 98.

Madonna also had their Gold team compete in the event led by  Kelsey Edwards (JR/Ortonville, Mich.) who is tied for 22nd with a 90. The other four members of the team were making their collegiate debuts in Paige Clauss (FR/Bay City, Mich.) (94), Madison Montgomery (FR/Byron, Mich.) (105), Jacquelyn Green (FR/Livonia, Mich.) (107) and Hannah Folkmier (FR/Highland, Mich.) (123).

Marian University (Ind.) leads the tournament with a 329 with host Cardinal Stritch second with a 336 followed by Madonna with a 341. The Madonna Gold team carded a 396 and sit seventh.

The Crusaders wrap up the Stritch Wolfpack Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 12 with an 9 a.m. EST  shotgun start.
