WYOMING, Mich. – The 23rd-ranked Madonna University men's golf team opened the 2017 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference slate on Friday at Kaufman Golf Course and carded a 304 in the first jamboree to finish fourth.
Eric Attard (SR/Livonia, Mich.) also finished fourth with a team-best even-par 72. He was one of four players in the event to finish even or better on the day. A trio of freshman completed the team scoring for the Crusaders as Brandon Petzak (FR/Ypsilanti, Mich.) tied for eighth with a four-over-par 76, one shot better than Connor Greenlee (FR/Farmington Hills, Mich.) who posted a 77 to tie for 15th. Andrew Volk (FR/East Tawas, Mich.) was the fourth counted score as he carded a 79 to tie for 19th. John Tatti (SR/Canton, Mich.) was the fifth member of the team to compete and he finished with an 81, tied for 23rd.
Indiana Tech won the 6,808 yard, par 72 event with a six-over 294, three shots better than 12th-ranked University of Northwestern Ohio who finished with a 297, led by individual medalist Lewis Scott who shot a four-under par 68. Lawrence Tech placed third with a 300 while Madonna and Aquinas (320) rounded out the top five.
The 10 conference teams will all head 100 miles southeast to Arbor Hills Golf Club in Jackson, Mich. for WHAC Jamboree No. 2 hosted by Lawrence Tech on Saturday, Sept. 9. The teams will tee off at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.
