LIVONIA, Mich. – The shutout streak remain intact for the Madonna University men's soccer team, who received votes in the recent NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Crusaders have played 270 minutes without allowing a goal and have outscored their opponents 8-0 after Wednesday afternoon's 2-0 victory over Cleary University at the Madonna Athletics Complex.

FINAL: Madonna (3-0-0) 2, Cleary (3-2-0) 0

  • The Crusaders defense limited the Cougars to just two first half shots, which allowed the offense to dominate the half

  • Madonna got on the board in the 22nd minute as Ludvick Asigo (FR/Rongo, Kenya) attempted a bicycle kick that deflected off the crossbar to the foot of Hector Morales (SR/Habana, Cuba) who drilled the ball in the far lower 90 for a 1-0 lead

  • The Crusaders had three other header shots that narrowly missed the net, including a shot by Asigo that was narrowly saved

  • The final tally came on the Crusaders' second converted penalty kick of the season as Marlon Freitas (FR/Jaboticabal, Brazil) beat the keeper to the lower left 90 for the two goal lead at the half

Inside the Box Score:

  • Madonna finished with a 10-5 margin in shots and a 5-2 mark in shots on goal

  • The Crusaders also had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks

  • Asigo paced MU with three shots with one on goal

  • Frietas and Morales each had two shots with the former putting two on goal and the latter having one on frame

  • Jeff Wielczopolski (JR/Windsor, Ontario) recorded his first win of the year as he got the start and made two saves in the first half before being relieved by Joe Smith (JR/Royal Oak, Mich.) in the second half who didn't face a single shot on frame in the period
