LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University women's lacrosse teams expects to set records and compete with some of the best in the country in the program's second season, led by Head Coach Dan Teskey.

"As a coaching staff, we're really excited for the players we're bringing in this season," said Teskey. "This class changes the makeup of our team drastically and helps push us to be more competitive both in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and in the NAIA. We filled many of the glaring holes we had last season. This group wants to win and they fit the type of student-athletes we want at Madonna and will help mold our team culture."

Christy Battersby - Attack - 5-3 - Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison HS

  • All-State, All-Conference, and All-League Selection
  • Ranked No. 2 in Michigan for most goals in a game
  • Ranked No. 6 in Michigan most goals in a season
  • Averaged six goals per game during her Junior season
  • Personal best of 13 goals in one game

Madeline Caswell - Attack - 5-10 - Plymouth, Mich. / Plymouth HS

  • 30 goals in Senior season
  • Three-year Varsity Starter

Emily Daly - Defense - 5-8 - New Market, Maryland / Linganore HS

  • Graduated with honors & honor roll member for 4 years
  • 20 interceptions and 2 goals sophomore year
  • 18 interceptions senior year

Dana Haney - Midfield - 5-2 - White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland HS

  • 2015 and 2016 Lacrosse Scholar Athlete Award
  • 2015 and 2016 Basketball Scholar Athlete Award
  • 2016-2017 Leadership/Commitment Award

Brittney Leist - Midfield - White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland HS

  • Two-time All-Conference honoree (2016-17)
  • Eagle Award winner (2016)
  • Four-time Academic Excellence award recipient

Valarie Patterson - Attack - Springboro, OH / Springboro HS

  • 2017 President's Education Award winner
  • 2016 Most Improved Varsity Player
  • 2017 6-Year Award winner

Lauren Plave - Defense - 5-4 - Canton, Mich. / Canton HS

  • All-State Honorable Mention selection

Haley Skeens - Attack - 5-8 - Canton, Mich. / Canton HS

  • Two-year Varsity Starter
  • Scored the game winning goal against Novi High School with 24 seconds left in the game

The Crusaders open the 2018 season with a home date against Notre Dame College on Feb. 25 before hitting the road for seven contests. Madonna's WHAC opener comes on Mar. 31 at Aquinas College with the first home conference date coming Apr. 4 against Siena Heights University.
