LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University men's lacrosse program, led by second-year head coach Mike Walter, look to make a large improvement in year two of the program. Walter announced the Crusaders have added 23 recruits to the 2018 roster with many of the student-athletes regarded among the best in their state. Read below to learn more about each recruit and what they've done in their prep careers.

"We are looking for all these guys to come in and make and immediate impact on our team," said Walter. "When you look at our roster, with these additions and the returners from last season, our goals of winning the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, making it to the tournament and claiming a national championship are all within reach for this team."

Derek Amoth - Goalie - 6-1 (Hopkinton, N.H./ Hopkinton HS)

  • Three-year varsity starter
  • Two-year captain
  • Two-time First Team All-State (2016, 2017)
  • 74% Save Percentage in 2017
  • 2017 State Champions

Zachary Beam - Midfield/Face-Off Specialist - 6-0 (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central HS)

  • Two-year varsity starter
  • 2016 Section 9 Lacrosse Championship Player of the Game
  • Won 80% of face-offs as a senior
  • Averaged 15 ground balls per game
  • Named All-Division in 2017
  • Team MVP in 2017

Garrison Brackens - Defense - 5-10 (Fairfield, Ohio/ Fairfield HS)

  • Two-year varsity letterwinner
  • Started for the Indians as a senior

Tucker Brady - Attack - 5-9 (Cumming, Ga./ North Forsyth HS)

  • Four-year varsity starter
  • Scored eight goals in one game
  • 33 goals, five assists as a junior
  • 35 goals, 11 assists as a senior
  • Brine-Georgia All-American in 2017

Collin Caid - Goalie - 6-0 (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS)

Brendan Daschke - Midfield - 5-8 (Novi, Mich./Novi HS)

Jordan Davis - Midfield - 6-4 (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City Senior HS)

  • Three-year varsity letterwinner, two-year starter

The Crusaders open the 2018 season on February 26 in Brighton, Michigan against Cleary University with the 2018 home opener, your first chance to catch the newcomers on the turf at the Madonna Athletics Complex, coming on Mar. 8 against Benedictine College.
