CoSIDA RELEASE | AUSTIN, Texas – Madonna University alum Taylor Grzelakowski (SR/Fraser, Mich.) has been named to the 2017 Academic All-America College Division Baseball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Team includes student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.

A Business Administration major, Grzelakowski graduated from Madonna in May with a 3.78 grade-point average.

Grzelakowski was one of four student-athletes from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference named to the first team which was led by Glen McClain of Indiana Tech who was named CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year.

The Fraser, Michigan native had a career year in 2017 as he hit .426 with 75 hits in 176 at-bats with 59 runs scored and 60 runs batted in. He also had 16 doubles, three triples and 12 home runs. He led the team in average, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage (.756) and on-base percentage (.538).

The first basemen for the Crusaders in 2017 had 28 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI games and had the second longest hitting streak of the season at 13 games.

He finishes his career as a .345 hitter with a .519 slugging percentage and a .451 on-base percentage. His on-base mark is fifth-best in program history His 164 RBI is the third-best in a career as he is also in the top 10 in games played and started, at-bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, total bases and walks.

Grzelakowski has signed a contract with the Utica Unicorns of the United Shores Professional Baseball League. The Unicorns play their home games at Jimmy John's Field in Utica, Michigan. You can learn more about the league here.
