RESULTS | SILVIS, Ill.– With a break in the weather, the Madonna University men's golf team showed they can compete with the best as they climbed three spots to 14th with a third round 299 at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championships at TPC Deere Run on Thursday afternoon.

The Crusaders were three shots shy of the program championship single-round record of 296 set in round three of 2012. That season Madonna recorded their highest team finish of 17th with a program-best 72-hole score of 1232 (320-308-296-308).

After 54-holes, the Blue and Gold have a team score of 921 (305-317-299) and are just six strokes shy of a top 10 finish with 18 holes to play.

Justin Pahl (JR/White Lake, Mich.) continued to lead the Crusaders as he climbed 11 spots with an even-par 71 to tie for sixth with a 221 (72-78-71). Pahl opened the third round with a birdie on the par 5 10th and birdied the par 3 16th before making the turn with a one-under 35. A pair of early bogey's put him over par after hole No. 4, the 12th of his round, but he birdied the par 3 7th to finish even par.

John Tatti (JR/Canton, Mich.) and Michael Gaulin (SR/Shelby Township, Mich.) also continued to climb the leaderboard as each carded one-over 72's. Tatti moved up 19 spots to tie for 35th as he carded three birdies and 11 pars in his third round. Gaulin jumped 25 spots into a tie for 40th thanks to four birdies and 10 pars. Tatti has a three-day 228 (76-80-72) while Gaulin has a 229 (83-74-72).

Nine pars helped Marc Hebert (SR/Shelby Township, Mich.) card an 84 on Thursday while Connor Humitz (SR/Livonia, Mich.) turned in an 87 with seven pars. Hebert has a three-day total of 248 (79-85-84) while Humitz sits at 253 (78-88-87).

Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) holds a 13 stroke lead with a 54-hole 889 (289-306-294) while Grand View University (Iowa) (296-315-291) and Texas Wesleyan (306-306-290) are tied for second at 902.

Rowan Lester of Texas Wesleyan is the individual leader with a 213 (69-72-72). He holds a one-stroke lead over Ben Kendrick of University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) while Cameron Moralee of Keiser University (Fla.) is just two strokes back.

Madonna will tee off the final round of the championship beginning at 7:54 a.m. on hole No. 10. The Crusaders will play with 13th place University of British Columbia and 15th place Our Lady of the Lake (Texas).
