RESULTS | SILVIS, Ill. – Weather became a factor on Wednesday at the second round of the 2017 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships at TPC Deere Run as the Madonna University men's golf team carded a 317 for a two-day 622 (305-317).

The Crusaders teed off in the morning and dealt with a nearly hour-long delay that ultimately caused a postponement of play with more storms and darkness rolling in. After the second round finished, around 11 a.m. EST Thursday morning, Madonna earned the last spot in the third round as they finished 17th after 36-holes, three strokes better than St. Ambrose University and just six strokes out of the top 10.

Michael Gaulin (SR/Shelby Township, Mich.) paced the Crusaders in round two as he shaved nine strokes off his first round score to post a 74 and climb 62 spots in the standings with a 36-hole 157 (83-74). The Blue and Gold teed off hole No. 10 and Gaulin made the turn at one-over par with six pars, a birdie and two bogeys before finishing the front nine two-over with a birdie on his final hole, the par 4 ninth. He is tied for 65th.

Justin Pahl (JR/White Lake, Mich.) struggled in round two as he failed to birdie a hole and finished with a seven-over 78. He managed 13 pars in the round and is tied for 17th with a two-day 150 (72-78).

The third-best score for Madonna on day two came from John Tatti (JR/Canton, Mich.) who posted three birdies (No. 10, 3 and 7) and had six pars as he carded a nine-over 80. In two rounds Tatti has carded a 156 (76-80) which has him one stroke better than Gaulin and in a tie for 54th.

Marc Hebert (SR/Shelby Township, Mich.) followed his opening round 79 with a second round 85 for a two-day 164. He had four pars in the round and is tied for 118th. Connor Humitz (SR/Livonia, Mich.), who has a 166 (78-88) after two rounds, birdied the par 5 17th and had six pars in his second round 88. He is tied for 126th.

Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) holds the 36-hole lead with a 595 (289-306) with Keiser University (Fla.) 10 strokes back in second with a 605 (302-303). Only 10 strokes separate teams 6th-17th with the Crusaders in position to make a run on Thursday afternoon.

Madonna will tee off hole No. 10 beginning at 1:09 p.m. EST. They will be paired with the Master's University (Calif.) who is 16th and five individual players from four different programs. Fans can follow the action live via Golfstat, here.
