LIVONIA, Mich. – Playing on what began as a cool, cloudy day, the Madonna University men's lacrosse team dropped a snowy affair to Lourdes University 19-1 at the Madonna Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The loss is the fifth this season for the first-year Crusader program as they fall to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Gray Wolves, who are second in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, move to 5-0 in 2017 and 1-0 in the WHAC.

Lourdes showed what makes them the second-best team in the NAIA as they scored early an often, including 18 unanswered tallies. Madonna limited the Gray Wolves offense after a 10-goal first quarter and got on the board with three minutes to play on a rifle shot from Michael Kolodin (SO/West Bloomfield, Mich.).

Madonna held a 14-12 edge in clears on the day, but 22 turnovers and only five won face-offs hurt the Blue and Gold's chances at an upset.

Kolodin finished with one goal on three shots with two groundballs while Jake Hwier (FR/West Bloomfield, Mich.) had four shot attempts and had a groundball.

The goalie tandem of Derek Vick (FR/Lapeer, Mich.) and Lawson Fairfield (FR/Muskegon, Mich.) combined for 16 saves in the contest that was played in a blizzard for much of the second half.

After finishing the second of back-to-back contest, the Crusaders will have some time off before hosting Indiana Tech on Wednesday, Mar. 22 at 3 p.m.
