DETROIT, Mich. – No. 24 Madonna volleyball closed out the WHAC portion of their regular season slate with a 3-0 sweep over the host Mustangs of Marygrove College on Wednesday (Nov. 2) at Detroit's Northwest Activities Center. The victory lifts the Crusaders record to 29-6 overall and 14-2 in WHAC play in advance of Saturday's (Nov. 5) Senior Day tilt opposite Indiana East. First serve for Saturday's match is 1 p.m. with Senior Day to precede the non-conference contest around 12:55 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Crusaders jumped in front early and never looked back en route to topping the Mustangs in straight sets (25-15, 25-15 and 25-14). MU used a 14-kill first set to set the tone Wednesday and followed that up with 17 and 16 kills over the latter two sets, respectively. The stellar performance allowed the Crusaders to take home a 47-20 advantage in kills and a .297 to .044 edge in hitting percentage.

Defensively, the Crusaders recorded 56 digs to Marygrove's 35, paced by a team-best 15 out of sophomore libero Deanna Krumholz (Romeo, Mich./Romeo High School). Krumholz was followed by senior defensive specialist Payton Maxheimer (Fenton, Mich./Fenton High School) who checked in with 12 digs of her own while Karlie Kelly (Romeo, Mich./Macomb CC) and Lauren Korth (Romeo, Mich./Romeo High School) combined for 16 digs.

Korth added a match-high 38 assists, setting up Kelly for a match-best 15 kills. Miranda Fuerst (Sebewaing, Mich./Oakland CC) chimed in with 10 kills while Amanda Hawkins (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson High School) slammed down nine kills to accompany a team-best two solo blocks. Katie Breault (Amherstburg, Ontario/General Amherst High School) rounded out the top performers on the attack with six kills in the three-set contest.

As a team, MU notched four aces, led by Jasmine DeMare (Dearborn, Mich./The Master's College) who served up a team-high two to add to her impressive season tally.

On Saturday, the Crusaders will honor the careers of five seniors with a special pre-match ceremony. The five seniors are: Katie Breault, Jasmine DeMare (junior graduating early), Miranda Fuerst, Payton Maxheimer and Hannah Poole.
