LIVONIA, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - -The 2012 Madonna University softball schedule was formally released today by head coach Al White and features the Crusaders making their first appearance at the prestigious National Fastpitch Coaches Association Lead Off Classic as well as 16 home games.

The Crusaders travel to Panama City Beach, Fla., March 2-4 for the invitation only Leadoff Classic and will face off with Southern Nazarene, No. 17 Union and No. 4 Central Baptist before the event moves to bracket play. MU continues its season opening road trip by moving to Mobile, Ala., for the University of Mobile Classic March 5-7 and then down to Gulf Shores, Ala., for the Gulf Coast Invitational.

At the Mobile Classic the Crusaders take on Campbellsville, Morningside, Notre Dame and Spring Hill before seeing No. 6 Belhaven, Bryan, No. 9 Shorter, Thomas and the host No. 22 Rams at the GCI in a two-day event played at the site of the 2012 NAIA National Championship.

March 16-18 sees MU head to Kentucky to take part in the Campbellsville / Lindsey Wilson Classic. The Crusaders take on St. Catherine, Georgetown and No. 15 Olivet Nazarene before their second matchup of the season against Campbellsville. On the 18th MU plays a double header at No. 14 Lindsey Wilson to close the road swing.

Madonna opens its home schedule on March 24, hosting No. 12 Bethel in a double header at University Field. A match up of coach and player takes place on March 28 as White takes on former Crusader Christina Finch (2006-08) and her Albion team in a road twinbill.

April brings the start of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play and a new single round robin format for the WHAC this season. MU hosts UM-Dearborn (April 6), Concordia (April 11), Cornerstone (April 13) and Indiana Tech (April 14) in league double headers while traveling to Siena Heights (April 18), Davenport (April 21) and Aquinas (April 22) for conference twinbills.

The Crusaders close the regular season with a pair of home double headers, hosting Rochester on April 28 and Davenport in a non-leauge meeting on April 30.

The annual league tournament starts May 3 at Bailey Park in Battle Creek, Mich.
