GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. ( - - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) office announced late Monday night (Oct. 24) that Madonna University junior Nastija Baranovska (Riga, Latvia / Rigas Secondary No. 16) has been named the league's Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 22.

The award is the first for Baranovska during her career and the selection marks the first Crusader to earn the award this season.

Baranovska was named to the BLT Sportswear & Apparel Crusader Classic all-tournament team and helped MU to a 4-1 mark on the week. The Latvian national posted 49 kills during the week against just nine errors for a .374 attack percentage. She also tallied 17 total blocks and four service aces.

In MU's upset win over No. 21 Bellevue, Baranovska recorded nine kills and eight blocks as part of MU's season-high 15 total blocks in the match.

The Crusaders close out the home portion of the regular season on Wednesday night (Oct. 26) in a 7 p.m. match against Aquinas at the Activities Center.
