EAST LANSING, Mich. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - Freshman Bianca Kubicki (Canton, Mich. / Canton) led the Madonna University women's cross country team on Friday (Sept. 16) as the Crusaders ran in the Spartan Invite at Forest Akers Golf Course.

The event – a non-team scoring event – featured over 230 runners in the women's 6k event.

Kubicki crossed the 6k distance in 23:30, placing 106th while fellow rookie Jaclyn Sawasky (Petersburg, Mich. / Ida) was next for the Crusaders, running 23:39 to place 116th. Sophomore Karli Kuchka (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) was next for MU, placing 136th in a time of 24:02. Seniors Kari Saarela (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin) and Cassie Yarnall (Clarkston, Mich. / Auburn Hills Christian) crossed the line in 25:44 and 26:14 respectively to place 181st and 186th. Freshman Shannon Dusute (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) rounded out the MU runners, crossing the line in 27:36 to come in 206th.

MU takes a weekend off before returning to the course on Sept. 30 in the Lansing Invitational.
